The past. A mountain town that once had the air of a summer resort.
That is, from the time of an early morning walk, it can feel hot.
The tennis courts have been replaced by low-rise housing complexes, and the tofu shop, small bookshop and toy shop in front of the station have all disappeared, leaving only concrete and asphalt.
When I walk around looking at the sky as it dawns, a phantom taste of beer spreads in my mouth. I'm not the kind of beer lover who drinks beer all the time, but I think of the bitter and somewhat sweet liquid passing down my throat.
The breakfast at the resort hotel, which I have set up in my head, is buffet style.
I drink a mug of draft beer in the morning.
When I think about what I want to eat, I find myself irresistibly craving ice cream.

朝から生ビールをジョッキで飲む。
食べたいものはと考えると、無性に、アイスクリームも欲しくなる。
「このアイスクリームがホントに好きね」そう揶揄う妻の声や表情も甦る。
「チョコミントも好きだけど」
妻はチョコミントが苦手だった。
「歯磨きを食べている気持ちにならない？」そんなことも言っていた。
