I woke up and got up before 5am.
Looking out the window, I saw that it was raining again this morning. I figured it was going to be a day when I didn't hear a soul.
Still, a day to throw out bottles, cans and plastic bottles of rubbish. I went down the dark street and stairs to the designated spot. That was the only time I went outside.
It's a day of 'Tuchi-humazu'. (a cross between 'not stepping on soil' and 'arch of the foot').I thought of my wife's face as she made such a light remark.
I didn't go outside, didn't raise the shutters in the living room, and kept the curtains closed for the rest of the day.
When I switch on the small downlight, I am more aware of the dimness than the light.
Yesterday, I considered taking a picture with a similar setting, and finally decided against it, but today I put this little bisque doll on the counter in the kitchen.
The light from the downlight made it appear amber-coloured.
From there, I dreamt of the Baltic countries famous for their amber, and thought about the impurities I had once seen inside the amber of my mother's pendant.
If there is reincarnation, I wondered where and what those reincarnated lives, such as the insects and leaves that were taken into the amber, were doing now.
If I am that impurity, I seem to be even more trivial and rubbish-like than an insect or a leaf.
Still, if I were an impurity captured in amber, I would be a rare and valuable 'trash'.

As a piece of rubbish hundreds of millions of years old, did I really have the good fortune to mix with thick sap?
