The rainy season has not yet ended despite such hot weather.
According to the two-week weather forecast, the weather is likely to remain gloomy until around the time of the Kyoto festival.
However, there is no way that the season will change completely from this day onwards. Some years ago, it was reported that the authorities had decided to stop declaring the beginning and end of the rainy season. I thought it was a very natural decision, but I remember that it was decided to continue as before due to the strong demand and disapproval of many people. What was it about the situation that made them feel so strongly against it? The declaration of the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the rainy season is said to have a great impact on business transactions. It is said to affect sales of summer goods.
Can they not be convinced that the season has changed without someone's endorsement?
Such a hot day with no motivation to do anything can only be an abominable summer, and even if it is summer, it is not unnatural to have days of continuous rain. It would be rather unnatural and illogical to think that the season would change completely from this day onwards.
The term "summer is in full swing" and the idea that Japan has four seasons are both empty.

こんなに暑い日が続くのに梅雨は未だ終わっていない。
2週間天気予報を見ると、京都の祭りの辺りまで、ぐずついた天気になるようだ。
しかし、この日からすっぱり季節が変わる日なぞ、あるはずがない。何年か前、梅雨入りと梅雨明けの宣言を止めるという方針が報じられたことがあった。至極当然の判断だと思ったのだが、多数の不評、強い要望に負けて、これまで通り継続されることになったと記憶する。どんなところが、そんなに強い拒否感を示したのか。梅雨明け、梅雨入りの宣言は、どうやら商いに大きく関係するらしい。夏物の売れ行きに影響するのだそうだ。
誰かにお墨付きをもらわなければ、季節が変わったということを納得できないのだろうか。
こんなに何もかもやる気の起きない暑い日は、忌々しい夏でしかありえないし、夏になっていても、雨が降り続く日があっても不自然ではない。この日から、すっぱり季節が変わると考える方が、むしろ不自然だし、理屈にも合わない。
夏本番という言葉も、「日本には四季がある」という物言いも、空々しい。
朝からごろごろするばかりで、このまま寝込んでしまうのではないかと恐れ、何も欲しくはないのに取り合えず昼食の用意をした。なに、冷凍餃子をフライパンに並べただけだが。
甲類焼酎のソーダ割り一杯と塩ラッキョウ、大根の糠漬けを添えて。
誰に何を言われなくても、この不愉快な気温と湿度は、日本の夏だと考えたら元気が出てきた。
セーラー襟の白いワンピース姿の人形を眺めながら、一度も見ることはないまま今生が終わるサマーツァーの有様を夢想した。
