I was looking at the images I had taken,
I thought, this is like Daruma-san fell down.
I thought about whether I had ever played Daruma-san fell down.
I've never done it, it shouldn't be that way, but I can't remember. I remember the way the crowd cheered in the primary school playground, and how the awkward stillness reminded me of everyone in a boy's drama after the hero had shouted for time to stop. But I don't remember playing as one of the many. That was terribly sad.
It's not that I didn't have any playmates.
From a very young age, I had always had a hard time mixing with the crowd.
I would sit on the bars and watch from afar as everyone else seemed to be having fun.
Some people must have invited me to join them, but I guess I wasn't cut out for it.
Similar games can be found all over the world and can be watched on video.
Beyond the excited participants, there must be children like me who can't get close to it.
Thinking of this made me want to cry.
