Thoughts on ship travel on domestic routes.

When Kansai Kisen's passenger ships used to leave Naka Jetty, I felt I could go to Oita Beppu any time I wanted.
This was probably because I had seen my father, who was in a bad mood when he got drunk, take the ship alone with the dog and return to his home in the countryside, since I was a child. At that time, there were also ships heading to Okinawa from Naka Jetty.
With the disappearance of the Japanese National Railways, car travel became the main means of transport...
Domestic passenger ships have also disappeared, and the ferry service has taken over. The daytime routes disappeared, perhaps to give the drivers a break.

My mother-in-law, before her memory became doubtful, was always concerned that I had not visited the graves in Kyushu.
I don't think my roots are in Kyushu.
But when I come to the harbour and look out over the dark sea, I remember a ship leaving, pulling a five-coloured paper tape. Dora was beating and Hotaruno Hikari (the light of fireflies) was also playing.

Where is the destination of the ship I envisioned?
A ship trip is only as good as the weather, but you don't know until you get on board.
I don't know where I will end up, and the safety of the voyage is filled with uncertainty, but I can't help but dream of the ship's journey.
I envisioned a ship with a vivid funnel, with white lines on a green background.
